Cassandra made her way down the crowded streets of Diagon Alley. everyone was rushing around go here and there. Occasionally getting bumped by on of the many hurried shoppers. She being the girl she is would apologize even if they had ran into her.
Why her parents decided to leave her her for a while was beyond her. She could of stayed at home reading one of her muggle books her cousin had brought her the last time she visited. Most parents would want you to stay home especially if they were leaving to attend business else where.
She made her way to her favorite ice cream shop Florean Fortescue's and hurried inside. It wasn't long until she ordered her ice cream and was sitting at a near by empty table lazily eatting her ice cream as she watched the shoppers walk on by.

Hallie Appleby, who decided to be a very independent girl that day, went to Diagon Alley to buy her school supplies alone. Her two wonderful sisters, Annie and Miles, were still snoring their lungs out when she left that morning. She wanted to be with them but then thought that she could use some time alone. After all, she did not want to wake them up and get blown up for doing so.
When she got down of the knight bus, she wished she could apparate. If only she could she would. Hello the knight bus is crazy one crazy vehicle! It always drives her dizzy. Not really in the mood to go shopping after the bumpy ride, the girl felt that she should somehow ¡¥undizzy¡¦ herself up first.
Just then, she caught sight of the best ice cream parlor in town. Florean Fortescue¡¦. More like the best ¡¥undizzier¡¦ in town. She grinned to herself as she started walking towards the shop that the best ice cream built.

She continued to eat her strawberry and vanilla ice cream still wondering why she had to behere its not like she didn't already buy all her school supplies. Maybe she forgot something. In her case her, forgetting something was very possible. She remember the first time she had to get her school supplies. SInce she had forgotten the school list they just had to get her the basicas, cauldron, wand and robes.
At that time she had the family owl. It might silly to anyone else but here she was just a mere first year student and already afraid to have her own olw. She parents tried to get her to buy one but she wouldn't even try stepping into and owl shop. She dug into her pocket and garbbed the note that her mother had slipped into her pocket unknowingly to her.
The first thing that was on the list was an owl of course. After her slight fear of owls she finally got used to having the family owl around. Since it was old she didn't want it to die when it was delevering a letter or a package so she told them she was going to get another one. She rolled her eyes softly and stuffed the note back into her pocket.

On her way to the shop, she had to say loads of ¡¥sorrys¡¦, ¡¥coming throughs¡¦ and ¡¥excuse mes¡¦ for the place was practically swarming with people. Hallie could not believe that Diagon Alley would still be packed with people given that Voldemort and his minions could be lurking around the corner or under the shadows.
Finally, she reached the entrance of the parlor. If she was an ant, it would have been impossible. To be honest, loads of people were too rude to be true. Some bumped into her without saying sorry. Some were the worst cases they glared at her right after they stomped on her foot. Not that Hallie minded though, the girl was just too nice to be angry at people who stepped on her foot accidentally.
Entering the shop, she scanned the place for a familiar face. Hoping that a classmate or a schoolmate was there, just like her. After a few minutes, she saw a certain Hufflepuff sixth year who has been in most of her classes for six years that coming school year. Cassandra Ortiz was right there, eating ice cream. The Hufflepuff grinned and made her way to her friend. Cass was one of the Hufflepuffs that she talks to a lot since they are from the same year.

Cassandra kept wondering if it was such a good idea to get another owl. She had gotten over her silly fear ever since she had Scarlett, their family owl. She seriously had not idea why she ever has such a ridiculous fear of owls. While most people were afraid of snakes or spider, she had fear of owls.
She shook her head as she tried not to think about that old silly fear of hers and try to enjoy the ice cream that she had ordered. She continued looking out the window, watching the busy witches and wizards rush past each other. Occasionally she would see someone she knew, not as her own friends but friends of her parents.
She didn't believe herself to be that social especially around school. She would tend to be by herself but that friends that she was really able to keep made her some what happy. She just didn't feel like she was a good enough friend. Ever since she was little she had always been by herself. She shakes herself out of her trance like state and glances up to see Hallie walking towards her table. What are the odds of that seeing a familiar face around this sea of people. She smiled and waved to her.

Hallie eyed her friend curiously as she made her way to her table. She was eating ice cream so most likely she was happy but that really did not count since it was not a fact that when you eat ice cream you are happy. Cassandra looked fine but she seemingly was in deep thought. Maybe something was bothering her and she hoped that that was not the case.
Hallie grinned and waved back when she saw her wave and smile at her. She wondered what brought Cassandra there. I mean she could be at home, relaxing and all that. ¡§Cass!¡¨ She greeted cheerfully. ¡§Is this seat taken?¡¨ She asked politely, indicating to the seat across her. She was glad to have seen her friend inside the ice cream parlor. She had not seen her all summer and she missed her so much.
¡§You seem to be in deep thought, whaddup?¡¨ Hallie asked, smirking a little. She was just concerned. If something or someone was bothering Cassy, it might as well bother her for she is like family to her.

She ate another sthingyful of her ice cream as she seen Hallie looking at her. She could not hide anything for her. She had to get over the fact that whenever she would think to much about school, family or friends she would get rather depressed. Which was odd even for her, she was a fairly happy girl.
She shook her head."No not at all go right a head and take a seat."She smiled at her overly cheerful friend. Just like Annie she hadn't seen them over the summer at all. Usually she would come over for a visit at least three times a week. Especially when they had planned something to do together.
"Nothing much..just think about my new room mate. My mother's friend's daughter is now living with us which is sort of weird...well at least it is to me."She tells her. She had no idea that her mother owed so many favors anything would of been nice since that girl was complaining about everything ever single chance she got. She wasn't completely lying to her that was just something she would like to fill up most of her own thoughts. "Anything new happen with you?"She asked her trying to get herself out of the current topic.

Hallie smiled at Cass when she said she did not mind her seating across. As she occupied the seat gracefully, she glanced over the counter and beamed at Andrea Black, the shopkeeper of Mr. Florean, who happened to be one of her close friends in Slytherin. Then she recalled Pansy and wondered where she and what she was doing in that moment in time.
She smirked at her friend when she told her about her new roommate. ¡§Wait, you mean the daughter of your mother¡¦s friend is weird or she living in your house is?¡¨ Hallie asked curiously. ¡§Or both?¡¨ Hallie added, gulping rather loudly. Honestly she pity Cass if her answer would be both.
¡§Me?¡¨ She chuckled, remembering the new best friend she just gained last week or so but then she remembered no one was supposed to know that. But it was Cass, she knew she could trust her with anything, even her life. ¡§I can count on you to keep quiet about anything, right?¡¨ She asked her Hufflepuff friend, she was confident that they are both Hufflepuffs for a reason.

she continued to enjoy her frozen treat making sure that she seemed rather happy even if she didn't feel like that at the moment. She hated worrying people especially her friends about her problems. Since they always seemed to resolve themselves some how. She let her thoughts wonder right back to their current topic.
"Yeah, my mother's friends daughter. You see her mother had recently died and I think her father had abandoned them since well basically since she was born."She shrugs not sure if she should of told her that much. She trusted Halie and Annie with everything but something were not for her to tell her. "Umm...she weird and she living with us. I'm only saying she weird because she has like spiders for pets my mom almost freaked when she found one on the table. It was funny....I don't know maybe she's not weird after all...I don't she's just really nice to you and then in less then a minute she like bossing me around...I don't know I should just stop talking now."She laughed nervously.
She looked at her rather quizzically. She knew that she must be hiding something if she would to be asking if she could be counted on being quiet, in her opinion she was like the most quiet not very social person considering how high her family status was. Not that she cared about that sort of things. She smiled."Of course you can count on me, I promise not to say a word to a living soul."She nods.

Hallie felt pity for the girl. She had no one left now with her mother dead. She really hated hearing that parents abandon their children, it was just a too sad story, at least for her. ¡§Didn¡¦t she had any relatives left? I mean, she must have an aunt, uncle, cousin, siblings?¡¨ She asked, maybe she could live with her relatives instead. After all, Cassie did not seem to be happy about her living in her house. ¡§Wow, now I get what you mean. Spiders! Gods those are scary!¡¨ Hallie told her sincerely. ¡§Spiders frighten the hell out of me, you know.¡¨ She added.
¡§That¡¦s strange¡K Switching moods in a minute.¡¨ Hallie voiced out her thoughts. ¡§Your patience must be tested every now and then, then.¡¨ She added, jokingly to lighten the mood up.
She smiled when she said she could count on her. She even regretted asking her that, after all she was like family to her. ¡§You know Pansy Parkinson, Slytherin Seventh Year?¡¨ She asked.

She shrugged."I don't know but I guess this lady much of trusted my mother really well to left her only daughter with us. She not all that bad I guess, besides her mood changing when you least expect it she not that bad. I swear my mother wants me to hang around with her every single minute of the day."She shakes her head laughing lightly.
"Nah, it takes a lot to annoy me or you know make me mad."She smiled at her and thought. but it doesn't take much to make me feel miserable.... She tired to blank out on those thought and started to focus more on Hallie and her question about knowing Pansy Parkinson."Well I've heard of her....so lets just say yeah anyways what about this specific Slytherin?"She asked her wanting to know what all this slytherin business was about.

Hallie laughed. ¡§Well at least you have someone your age in the house.¡¨ Hallie said brightly. ¡§Plus, you¡¦ll have a new friend too.¡¨ She added happily. ¡§So what do you two do? I mean how do you actually spend time with her?¡¨ She asked, smirking slightly.
"Same here, Cass. I do not know, I just seem to have got a great percent of patience in the world.¡¨ She added, grinning.
She smiled at Cass, not really knowing how to put it in words. ¡§Well, Pansy, one of Draco¡¦s best friend, has a really good friend of mine ever since¡K my first year?¡¨ She half-stated half-asked. She paused and eyed Cassie for a while before continuing. "And the last time we met, we became best friends." She finished.

She eat another bite of her already melting treat and rolled her eyes softly."You and your optimistic views. I guess your right but it doesn't mean we have to hang out every single minute of the day...its more like I'm forced to hang out with her every single minute of the day, I'm surprised she's not in here right now."She laughed. "Well, umm....I think we go shopping, we went swimming alot things like that I guess."She grinned.
She stayed quiet finishing the rest of her ice cream as she listened to Hallie say Pansy and her were best friends. She stayed quiet more like in shock that she even became friends with a Slytherin. At last what seemed about a million years later she laughed. "Wow, I don't know what to say...but congrats on making a new friend."She smiled at her sincerely.

Hallie had to laugh at the site of her friend¡¦s eye roll. She just found it funny for some reason unknown to mankind. ¡§Well you do not have to force yourself to hang out with her if you do not want to. I mean you can try to give her something that would you know¡K say capture all the attention inside her body.¡¨ She paused and tilted her head to the right. ¡§Buy her something that would be sufficient to amuse her for the whole day and come to think of it, we are here in Diagon Alley so that would not be so hard, would it?¡¨ She suggested brightly, shifting on her chair and helping herself to be more comfortable. ¡§Now the question is, do you think it would work?¡¨ She asked, knowing that her friend was more familiar with the other girl.
Hallie gulped. Her friend was silent. Her words worked like some ¡¥silencio¡¦ charm. Yes it was surprising but she could not help but feel a knot tie inside her stomach. What if she hated the idea? She did not want to lose her friend. But of course she was confident that Cassie was way deeper than that. After ten million years, Cassie laughed.
"Thanks, dear.¡¨ She smiled brightly. ¡§You know, you are the first person to know about this. Pansy and I agreed to keep this a secret for if this thing reaches the ears of Malfoy, she¡¦s dead.¡¨ She added.

She nods."Yeah,I guess I shouldn't force myself to hang out with someone, but what if she takes it the wrong way and starts spreading rumors or does something worse!"She sighs worriedly but laughs."Nah, its alright, I'll manage somehow, but that thing you mentioned about capturing her attention...maybe a pet will do it. But I will have to try it at least."She smiled as she began to think what sort of pet she should even get her so called new friend.
She turned her attention back to her friend and smiled."Really, I at least thought your sister would already know too. Ah, well in that case I will take this secret to the grave, I promise and I never go back on a promise but you already knew that."She smiled.
