Personality:
Kat was always someone standing away from the crowd, looking in. She was always a smart student, not a genius, but smart enough to pass her subjects with very nice grades. But unlike most of the smart students, strong enough to give anyone who stood in her way a broken nose or black eye. She was especially known to act that way when a 'meow' was added after saying her nickname. Stubborn and sometimes conceited, she's not afraid to speak her mind when she wants to.
With dark brown hair and blue-green eyes, Kat was never much of the girly sort. She had always loved Quidditch and pranking so much more. Even standing at 5'7, she could stare anyone down, even if they were twice her size. She's always been a firm believer in the "to gain respect you have to earn it" saying, so only her friends and a few teachers are actually respected by her. Kat was never one to trust people immediately, it usually taking a few months or, sometimes, years to actual gain it.
History:
Kat was born in Nîmes, France on December 15, her name meaning Pure Song. Her parents were Nathanael and Alana Lyric, both of whom met their fifth year at Beauxbatons Academy. After getting married four years later, they had Kat, moved to Arles, France, and, a year after that, had a second daughter, Destiny Lyric, meaning Fate Song. When Kat was four, her family moved to Coventry, England, buying a fairly large house for all four of them. Kat never had any trouble learning English, even if French was her first language. Her mother was originally from England before she had moved to France in her fifth year of school, and she spoke English to her daughters almost constantly. Although she did have an accent until she was nine, she eventually grew out of it and spoke like any other English child.
When she was seven years old, Kat's father was bitten by a werewolf, leaving her mother, her sister, and herself in order to protect them all. Her mother had tried to make the best of it, attempting to act cheerful for Kat and Destiny, but soon went into a depression. She died six months later when she refused to eat. Kat, then being an orphan, was sent to live with her grandparents with her sister, on their mother's side. They were both fairly young for their label of 'grandparents', and refused Kat and Destiny their right to call them 'Grandma and Grandpa'. Instead, they were told to call them by their first names, Elise and Avery. Although strictly, they still welcomed Kat and Destiny lovingly into their home.
Years passed, Kat and her sister growing more comfortable about living with their grandparents. They were wealthier than both of them had known when her parents were alive, so they all lived quite comfortably, although neither of them were around very much. Being pureblooded, they attended many dinners and parties to keep their status up. Although most girls would become bratty and greedy after being left alone with wads of money, Kat enjoyed being independent, the same as her sister. She had a few best friends, so she was never lonely, and she enjoyed hanging out with them. Most were boys, for it seemed that having a male heir was somewhat of a need in pureblood households, although Kat didn't see the point. She didn't mind though, playing games of Quidditch and pranking the enemies from day to night in the summer with them.
When she was eleven, Kat received her letter to Hogwarts. Her grandparents were so pleased with her, they bought her a cat, black as midnight, which she named Tamsin, and a new broomstick, a Nimbus 2000, even though she had insisted on something less expensive. She loved her first year, meeting new people and friends, and learning as much as she could. Her sister received her letter the following year, and was sorted into the same house.
What can you say about your friends? Having had her parents leave her in two different ways at a young age, and with distant grandparents, Kat practically survived on her friends. Besides her sister, her friends were some of the closest family she ever has. They were literally her family in every way but blood.
RP Sample: (This is from another site)
Liz walked up the staircase to her common room, feeling the need to lay down on her bed and never get up. She felt sick, maybe she should go to the Hospital Wing. No way, too far. Need sleep. She thought stubbornly to herself as she continued to climb step after step, feeling as if she'd crumble with each passing one. Every time she raised her foot and lowered it again, putting her weight back on it, it felt so much harder than it actually was. Ugh, fine. So be it. She thought to herself again. She turned the opposite direction that she was going, toward where the Hospital Wing was located. They'd better make her well quick.
Going down the stairs was much simpler than going up in her weakened state. Still, she had to watch to make sure she didn't trip over anything, which happened even when she wasn't sick. She finally made it to the level she desired, smiling slightly in triumph. Just a few more steps, she thought. That's it. Then I can rest. Glorious, glorious rest. She walked in, nearly falling on top of herself in her rush. The nurse came over to her quietly, checking her head, and laying her down on the bed. Before she could fall asleep on the soft pillow, only one thought slipped her mind. Thank God.
