Today was not a typical day. As a matter of fact, the past week had been very strange as well. But today was particularly bad, though nothing in particular was uncommon; it was just the combination of multiple events.
First had been that Kaiden had actually gotten a good six hours of sleep. Usually, the insomnia that he carried around took over and he was unable to get any rest. Secondly, he had gone to Herbology for the first time this year. Herbology in itself wasn't a problem; going outside to get there was.
The third problem was the worst. On his way to the greenhouses, walking as he usually did with his head down and his pace slow, he hadn't noticed the small clump of his fellow housemates waiting outside the glass building for class to begin. One of them seemed to find a certain pleasure in beating on Kaiden in one way or another, and so a duel had ensued, though it immediately cut off the instant Sprout appeared. Seeing a way to get out of class, Kaiden had lied and said he'd tripped as an attempt to cover up the injuries he had sustained from duelling five on one.
That all explained why he was where he was now, musing over the duel, wishing that it could have continued. Currently the tall Slytherin lay on one of the beds in the hospital wing while he waited for Madam Pomfrey to finish up with the other students. One hand behind his head and the other, with a broken wrist, laying on his chest, he stared at the ceiling and tried to guess how long it would take for someone to either talk to him or for Madam Pomfrey to fix him up.
In reality he had no reason to be here. He knew enough of the healing spells that he could fix himself up quickly, but he knew that Madam Pomfrey would have his head if he didn't come and see her. And this gave him a reason to stay indoors and in one place, with the broken wrist, the multiple burns, and the scratches on his face.
I probably look horrendous. Another reson for people to stay away, he thought as he continued to stare at the ceiling.

Annie looked a little forlorn as she made her way to the hosptial wing. She had a long gash running across her left arm. That was a plan that had back-fired horribly. Its not my fault the old headmistress doesn't like surprises, she told herself as she walked into the hospital wing. The nurse raised an eyebrow at her. Annie blushed and grinned a little sheepishly. She knew the nurse quiet well enough. She had been to the wing more times than she could count. Her pranks rarely backfired on her. When they do she was in for a lot of pain.
"It backfired on me this time," she explained to the nurse as her wound was taken care of. "I should plan my actions carefully next time." Next time I'll be smarter than head Bellatrix herself. Her pranks were quiet humerous enough. People were starting to call her the pranking sister, a name that fitted her perfectly. Of course the Slytherins also had a name for her.
And it so happened that there was one Slytherin laying on bed. "Oh dear," Annie said mornfully as she walked over to him. The Hufflepuff grinned evily as she looked down at him. Usually this would provide better results when a Slytherin looked like this. But she decided to give him a break: she didn't want another injury on her. Her record was three stratches in a day. That went horrible, Annie thought as she held back a flinch. That had hurt like hell. "What brought you here" she asked him, a little curious.

There was another another girl, a Hufflepuff from what he could see. She, as anyone else in the room, was injured. But Kaiden noticed instantly that she seemed the type to really not like Slytherins. At times he hated being thrown in with that bunch.
"What brought you here" the girl asked.
Kaiden considered just staring at her as he stared at everyone else, but he was still angry from the duel. And Madam Pomfrey was not likely to leave him along for much longer, as she was nearly done with the surprisingly crowded room. Their little agreement that made her save Kaiden for last only worked when there were a lot of people, and those people were leaving now...
Roughly, he said, "My house mates decided to try and teach me yet another of their lessons. It didn't go so well." There, let her figure that one out. Maybe she'd catch on to how much of an outcast he was before he had to hex her. Usually he ended up hexing people, especially the mouthy ones.
He spotted Madam Pomfrey heading his way and winced slightly. Time was up.

Annie blinked with surprise a few times. "Now thats something I haven't heard before," she mused outloud. There was an amused look on her face. She was telling the truth in a way. Never had she heard of housemates beating one another. usually she was the one doing it unless it was a very good reason. "Poor dear," she then added in her motherly like voice. She pushed away her blonde hair. She was dressed simply in a blouse and a long skirt. The blouse was white with gold trim, it made her blonde hair stand out more. Her skirt was white with silver triming around the hems. She looked beautiful in the outfit.
"Can I help beating them up with you?" Annie asked. Her eyes now held the normal sparkling mischief she always had when she was thinking of a plan. "I'm normally good at coming up with sneak attacks." at this her evil grin grew bigger. Her eyes held the wide and innocent look no one took seriously, unless she had a reason to act innocent.
"I think you already know my name," she told the Slytherin. "But its Annie Appleby." Annnie had a lot of enemies in Slytherin. Manyly it was because of trying to prank the headmistress. Annie's goal was to get the old hag injuried enough so she'll be out of school for at least a year. But sadly that was not goin gto happen.

She was really starting to get annoyed. Well, irritating wasn't probably the right word. Immature, maybe, or... she - Annie - was just the overly chatty type. Which therefore meant that she annoyed him.
Irritated, Kaiden pushed himself upright and snatched his wand off the bedside table. "I don't care who you are," he growled, "And I don't need your help." Liar, you know that you'd accept anyone's help if you really wanted to get back at them, said an irrational part of his mind. Kaiden ignored that part and stood up to sweep out of the room.
He hadn't even gotten to the door when he heard the snappish voice that he had expected. "Mister Throm," the nurse said. "I suggest you get back here before I report you to the Headmistress." The threat was evident in her voice. Kaiden stopped short and balled his hands into fists. There was a grinding pain in his left hand. Something broken in the hand too.
Slowly, the Slytherin turned around, and returned to stand in front of the small woman, then thrust his broken hand at her wordlessly. She took it, and after a couple of painful prods, he felt the bone heal. "Now the rest, Mister Throm," she ordered, and he had no choice but to return to the bed. Now Kaiden was really wishing that he had fixed himself up on his own. It would have saved him a lot of trouble.
