There was no way in hell that Kaiden would be caught outside on a day like today. These stupid, sunny days were the ones best spent inside, in the library, where it was usually quite quiet because everyone else was outside. Then work could be finished, letters written, and, of course, the best part, he could stay away from people.
It was the whole people thing that kept him away from not only the outdoors, but the dances and the common room as well. There were just too many odd glances and accusing glares. No way in hell he'd be caught in there either.
Of course, it wasn't just people that turned him away from going outside. Kaiden just didn't fit out in the sun. Rain, maybe, but sun... no. The blinding light deepened the shadows - already unnaturally dark - underneath his eyes, and caused him to look even paler than he ought to. No wonder some of the young students thought he was a vampire. The smallest of smiles appeared on his face just to disappear before most people could notice.
With a quiet sigh, the tall Slytherin dropped to the ground at the base of a tree. At least there was some shade here. Maybe he would get a sunburn. That would be embarrassing, for sure. And it wasn't even his fault.
The librarian, upon seeing him yet again hiding in the library, had snapped and ordered him outside. Kaiden thought that she was overreacting; after all, he'd been hiding in there for the past six and a bit years. Nothing new now.
Dark eyes glared out towards the castle. Stupid, idiotic people. They just couldn't leave him alone.
Impatient now to finish homework, lest he get detention for incomplete assignments, Kaiden pulled out some parchment and a quill. Time to continue to ignore the world and hope that he'd be able to sneak back into the library in an hour or so.

Lacey grumbled. Today has not been her day. First she was late and the professor gave her detention, second she had a huge headache, and third it was a great day out. Days like this always gave her a headache and Lacey prefered the dark. It was something natural to Lacey since she became a werewolf. And she'd normally wouldn't go outside either since the light of the sun would show all of her tiny scars. Plus she was considerablly pale too. The sun wasn't about to make her look any less pale.
Still grumbling and cursing to nothing Lacey decided to head outside for the heck of it. There were always trees that gave shade and she could sit under it. It sounded like a good idea to Lacey at the moment and Lacey opened the doors and walked outside. The sun was bright and Lacey had to squint her eyes to see across the grounds. Ever since the new rules were made and every girl had to wear their hair up in a pony-tail, Lacey felt too exposed. She never liked people looking at her and it made her uncomfortable. It wasn't any better that she had to wear her hair up in a pony-tail everyday now. It was probably the cause of her headaches too.
As she walked further out into the grounds Lacey was beginning to think that going outside wasn't a good idea. She groaned but kept on going. She wasn't about to give in to her stupid fears. Heading over to a tree that looked like nobody was at she made her way over to it. She walked into the shade of the tree and felt her face grow cooler. She was about to sit down when she noticed a tall black haired boy sitting at the base of the tree with a piece of parchment in his hands. Lacey slowly sat down at the base of the trunk too and wasn't sure if the boy wanted to be bothered or not so she didn't say anything. [/size]

Wasn't he just thinking that the outdoors had too many people? Kaiden should have known, with his luck, that he wouldn't be able to escape people any time soon. Perhaps when he graduated he'd go live as a hermit, far away from anyone. Or somewhere dark, like a forest. But then he'd have to deal with dangerous creatures attacking, and that wouldn't be pleasant. Then again, it seemed that his life wasn't meant to be pleasant. Like now. Of course, things could be worse. She could have been a Slytherin...
The thought was barely complete when he recognised her. Never mind then, she was a Slytherin. Life was about to take on the title of 'Hell', especially if she started talking. For now, that particular piece of torture was being held back, but it wouldn't be long. Then he'd either have to jinx her or do his usual 'I'm not listening' routine. Or he could just glare and scare her away, not that many Slytherins scared that easily. The jinxing looked more and more preferable. Just not quite yet.
Head bent over the parchment and quill out, Kaiden began to write. It was an essay for Transfiguration, and professor McGonagall expected a lot to keep his marks high. Still, it hadn't been very hard yet, though the sleepless nights would catch up to him eventually. Thank goodness for coffee. That was probably the only reason he was still alive. Actually, there were more reasons, like being way too deep into the Dark Arts for his own good. If he ever got around to picking a side in this war, You-Know-Who would be pleased to get him on the Dark side. And it would be so easy to just give in and join...
No. Not happening. Not until his family agreed to nullify the disowning, and that wouldn't happen any time soon. Not after their last meeting.
Kaiden paused at the end of a sentence. He was surprised, really, that he was able to get work done with someone sitting so close to him. Curious, very curious, he thought as he continued working on the essay.
