Personality:
Nothing is normal with Kaiden. He's the cold, distant type with an oddly empty look in his eye that somehow manages to show pain at the same time. While he is good at a variety of subjects, the new 'dark arts' class seems to be the only one that aids his dark moods. While he distances himself from everyone around him, he still manages, without knowing it, carry that slightly arrogant air of superiority that most pureblood Slytherins have.
Quick Physical description:
Kaiden stands about 6 feet, 3 inches with long, wavy black hair. His dark green eyes stare out of mature features. Pale hands rest beside the dark fabric that normally covers as much skin as possible.
History:
At times you might wonder how a man like Kaiden could be so brutally cold and uncaring. Then he'd turn those empty eyes upon you, and those questions usually disappeared.
The story is a little bit sad, a little bit selfish, but filled with love.
Childhood was not a pleasant experience. The youngest of three and the only son of Julianna and Keith Throm, his life should have been extraordinary. The Throm family was an old, pureblood family, with old-fashioned ideals, like bearing a male heir to inherit. So Kaiden's entrance into the world was supposed to be a great occasion for the Throm family.
Things didn't work out. Kaiden's two older sisters, Janet and Riley, were jealous of the attention that was paid to him, even though they were 7 and 10 years his senior. But his sisters were not the problem. Kaiden was.
Early on, he was taught that the Dark Lord's ideals, even though he was gone, were the right thing. Pure blood was the most important thing, and that meant continuing the Throm line with male heirs.
Kaiden, even as a child, questioned those beliefs, and as a result was was pushed even further into the dark world. But he rejected it and his family gave up. At this point it was too late to have another child, so the Throm parents just hoped that, once in Hogwarts, he'd turn around. After all, no one could go against the Dark Lord once they were in Slytherin, and all Throms were in Slytherin.
Things went all right here. Kaiden was - no surprise - sorted into Slytherin. But he refused to act like them, preferring to stay on his own. Some believed he ought to have been in Ravenclaw, from the mixture of good marks and silence. He was deemed an outcast, and no one - from any house - wanted anything to do with him.
But those people were kinder than Kaiden's parents. Upon returning home for winter holidays, he was quickly disowned, among other things. On his own, he made his way to Diagon Alley and found a kind soul in the bartender there, Tom.
Tom, though, was not free with his money. Kaiden began working there, in back most of the time, doing simple things for board and food, because he no longer had access to the Throm account at Gringott's.
When he returned to Hogwarts, things didn't improve. He had to dodge Slytherins, many of whom were intent on beating him up for abandoing their way, and no one in the other three houses were willing to help. Thankfully Kaiden turned out to be a relatively smart boy, though he never spoke up in class; there was no way to compete with Hermione Granger, and his best class, Potions, was no good either, for Snape disliked him just like the rest of the school.
For three more years, things went on like this. Then she came along.
It was just innocent curiosty that brought them together at first. She wanted to know why he was so distant, so quiet. He (though he didn't want to admit it) found her odd ways quite interesting. Things evolved, life changed, and Kaiden was no longer a quiet kid. He had turned into a content teenager in love.
She occupied much of his attention over fourth and fifth year. Normally no one dated seriously in that time, but they did, though it wasn't obvious. Being from different houses made it hard, but worth it all the same.
Then she disappeared. After the summer spent working at the Leaky Cauldron (where he was finally learning to tend bar), he returned to Hogwarts to find her gone.
The best word to describe him for the next three months would have to be broken-hearted. Unreal might be another. Uncaring and distant are another pair.
It took until December for Kaiden to get out of the depressive state he was stuck in. The only reason he came out was because McGonagall finally confronted him with his marks in all subjects. it was just P and D, one after another, which were in high contrast to the As, Es, and Os on his OWLs.
The work was enough to snap him out of it, though not entirely. He brought his work up to standard, but he remained cold and empty. Few wanted to approach him, and no one wanted to be associated with him. He was rarely in his dormitory, as insomnia had become yet another of his tendancies, as had nighttime wanderings. Growing his hair long and remaining indoors as to preserve his pale complexion were, to Kaiden, signs of changing his ways.
Throughout this time had also been the pressure to choose sides. For Kaiden, this was difficult in the extreme, for on one side was his hateful family, and on the other the memory of her. Things were not going to get easier.

What can you say about your friends?
"Friends are pointless. They bog me down and will eventually cause pain, as usual. There's no reason to have them, and that's how I plan to stay."

There was silence. And then, almost unheard, a footstep. It was the middle of the night; no one should be up. But Rowan was out of bed.
She could not stand the crowds during the day, so she avoided them as best she could and went for walks at night when no one was up. Of course, there was always the chance that a professor could catch her, but it was unlikely. Rowan was silent, or nearly so.
Another few footsteps, slowly, quietly. He small girl did not know where it was she was going, but it didn’t matter to her. Perhaps she’d check up on how her house was doing for points. They were probably being beaten by Gryffindor, as usual, but perhaps they were close. Rowan shook her head. Probably not.
The sound of heavy breathing warned the blonde that someone was coming. Silently and quickly, she disappeared into a nearby classroom. The caretaker wheezed by, grumbling about Peeves. Rowan didn’t really mind Peeves. He was one of the few who never actually made fun of her.
Once the caretaker was gone, Rowan resumed her walk. Assuming she was alone, she paid little attention to her surroundings. Little did she know, another student was out, and that student watched her now...
