Pansy sat under one of the trees by the lake. She was scared, truly scared out of her mind. She didn't know if Hermione was going to believe her, but she figured that if she would admit something like this, it would be to someone who would understand, or to someone who would at least think it out. She couldn't got to the meetings of The Order of Merlin without knowing at least one person there who knew that her loyalties were really to the Light side.
She sighed. What had she gotten herself into? If anyone else found out, she'd lose her reputation, and most probably her friends. Losing her friends was hard, but what if she had to lose her best friends also? These thoughts kept her awake every night, until yesterday, she finally had the guts to slip a note in Hermione's pocket during potions, praying none stop that she'd be able to read it.
She didn't know if Hermione would believe her, but she was willing to do anything to make her believe, she'd change houses if that's what she'd require. Her hands were trembling as she got an album in her bag. Lately, pictures were the only things that made her calm and made her forget her worries for at least a short span of time. She opened the first page and instantly she felt something sting her eyes. But she couldn't cry, no not now. The first picture in her album was probably one of the most valuable things she owned. Her very first picture with her best friend, Draco. Thinking of him made her sadder and more scared. Sad that he is making the wrong choice, scared that he might get hurt. Heck, he was a brother to her, she was more scared of his safety than hers.
She shook her thoughts out of her mind, flipping the pictures, and waiting for Hermione to come, truth is she didn't think she would, but she still waited, in hopes that she would.

Hermione had found a note in her pocket a few days before the current time, asking...more like pleading to go down to the Lake at the exact time. It sounded serious. And she wanted to go with all her heart until she had seen who wrote it.
Going against her better istincts, she decided to go and meet the Slytherin down at the lake. If it was a trap, she could defend herself, and Harry and Ron had known what she was going to do.
As the Gryffindors boffy, dark, chocolate brown hair bounced up and down, side to side thoughts were rushing through her head, the plans if anything went wrong.
"Pansy?" Hermione said, walking up to the tree the girl stood nar, obviously trying to relax. "What's this all about?" she added, holding up the messege she had recieved

Pansy looked up from the album. It came as a good surprise to her that Hermione decided to show. If she didn't she wouldn't know who to approach next. Surely not Harry, he probably won't even listen. She didn't blame him though, after all the years, that was a given.
She stood up and looked at Hermione. "Granger-Hermione, sorry old habits" she said as she looked at her apologetically.
"I want to start off with saying sorry. Sorry for ever calling you a Mudblood along with Draco and the others. I just-- got caught up with the Slytherin trend. I know I treated you guys like dirt, and I'm truly sorry for that." she told her sincerely. Her hands were trembling. She was never this scared, not even when her parents were about to beat her. No she was beyond scared she was terrified.
She recomposed herself, but not quite well, as her hands were still shaking. "I joined The Order of Merlin" she then said looking at her, waiting fir her reaction.

Hermione looked really angry at first, but being the sucked-in persin she could be, she sat down and gestured for Pansy to sit down. "Look, I know this is a big deal, in the Order of Merlin, and also our sorces tell us you're also in the Dark Mark. We know you can't just back down from that. Imsorry, I just don't believe that...you...you know would want to be working so hard like this, and all your friends, and your reputation, us gryffindors, ravenclaws and hufflepuffs know you pride yourself on your reputations. Are you sure you want to do this Pansy?" Hermione questioned.
ZThough it killed her to be open to the idea, Pansy was never a good actress, and couldn't shut up and stop calling any muggle born long enough for 3 minutes......she certaintly wouldn't be able to do this.
"And how's you sign up? As far as I know, Hary hasn't mentione anybody. And he knows everything thats going on...Would you rather go somewhere more private?" she added

Pansy cringed at Hermione's angry expression. She relaxed a little when it faded a bit. "I'm only a part of the Dark Mark because of my parents. I told them that I didn't want to join, but they-" she hesitated a bit. Only a few people knew of that her parents beat her. "They beat me and threatened to hurt Zane and Draco if I don't join" she said as she sat down. She rolled her sleeves to show Hermione that bruises that were all over both of her arms. She also rolled her socks down a bit revealing the other bruises on her legs, then rolled it back up.
"Actually, I asked help from Hallie, a Hufflepuff, I joined with her help" she said as she looked at Hermione. No one knew that she was friends with Hallie, well now Hermione did. "What do you want me to do to prove that to you?" she asked sadly, yet still scared, she knew Hermione, and she probably might give her an almost impossible task.

"oh, I see...Hallie, wow, I'm surprised she didn't say anything. And, why put up with that. Look, I can see you're afraid, and If you truely are on our side, I guess, we could somehow find out. I'm willing to give you the chance...but Ron, Harry....everyone else is going to want proff, like a truth potion. Quite frankly, I'm convinced that it would hurt to walk on them. Do you want me to get rid of the bruises for you? Or, do you know Letitia Parker, or some other person. Who else knows besides me, Hallie and...sadly Ron and Harry know that you're wanting to meet me here? Any Slytherins? Or friends from outside Slytherin?" Hermione asked
Hermione couldn't believe how nice she was being, she just believed that they needed as much help as they could, and even if it meant a Slytherin's help, it was sure to be worth it, then two spies for the Order of Merlin, none for the Dark Mark, that's all she needed to remind herself, she didn't want to create a scene, so then everyone knew what a fuss this was making, wasn't going to sow what stress there was floatin around her, in her

Pansy frowned. "I told Zane that I was meeting you here, but he laughed it off and when he noticed that I was serious, he blew at me, then went up to his dorm, I guess to cool down," she said remembering the event. It was only the second time Zane got angry at her like that. The first being when she was about eleven or twelve, when she didn't tell him about the beating and he had to find out by himself. "Millicent just shrugged when I told her, and yes, I sure as hell am afraid, but the bruises, thanks Hermione, but you don't need to, they'll heal in time, I'm used to it by now" she said as she took a vile out of her pocket. She knew that she'd be needing this. It was Veritaserum, the truth potion, she drank the vile and looked at Hermione, "You can ask away," she then said as she handed the vile to her, she left a small amount so that Hermione could confirm that it was Veritaserum, mentally preparing herself for the questions that were about to come.

"Why join? Why change now? Did your parents really making you sign up? Why risk your reputation? Why risk being found out by your parents?" Hermione sot at Pansy. She couldn't believe that Pansy just gave the potion to Hermione, only a tiny bit left in it, obviously to prove her innocence. "Why call me a mud-blood all 7 years?"
It really didn't feel fair, but it was Harry that she was scared for, she would die for Harry or Ron...hell she'd die for anyone who helped them, die for complete strangers that were innocent, and did nthing wrong. Only a few others were like that. "Would you be able to keep a secret that another Dark Mark person has been siding with us ever since his/her parents made her sign up too, would you tell them about them once you figure out who? How are you going to get to the meetings without being noticed? Are you truely going to be on our side?"

Pansy sighed and took a deep breath. "My loyalty has and will always be to the Order and to the Light side, I joined because I want to do something right, which is something I haven't been doing these past years, my reputation, hah! It's funny you asked that, well it really isn't that good is it? Yes for a Slytherin, my reputation is something to die for, but for a person with sense, it really is nothing. And my parents, I could care less, they couldn't possibly hurt me more then they've hurt me, I mean, Crucio is a word that really is familiar to my ears and to my body already, of course they can always kill me but I'm willing to take that risk." She said as she took another deep breath.
"I'm not blaming Draco or the others for calling you a Mudblood, I mean, that was my own personal choice, but like I said earlier, getting sorted into the house of Snakes changed my outlook on things for years, but now, thanks to Hallie and a few others, I'm back to the person I once knew, I'm back to Pansy" she said as she looked at Hermione, trying to catching her breath.
"And no, I sure as hell won't tell out on whoever that person is, though by now I think I know who already, since I've covered for Professor Snape a lot of times now" she added as she noted that she just told Hermione that she knew about the loyalty of their professor.

Hermione sat there, her mouth open in surprise, this was way too much for even her to bring in. "Wow" she said under her breath. All she wanted to do was listen, partly because she couldn't speak, or think of anything to say anyway. This was way to much to take in. Always knowing Pansy to never say the right thing, and to put others down, and to betray her Slytherin "Chums"

Pansy looked at her, finally smiling, she felt more at ease now that Hermione knew that she was telling the truth. It took her all her guts and energy to tell that to Hermione, but what about Ron and Harry? She sighed and looked at the sky. She couldn't keep still.
"Hermione?" She finally said. Her voice still a bit short.

"Yes Pansy" Hermione said, for the first time, not using those stupid last names that they've known each other by for seven years. "Look, you've convinced me, but...Harry and Ron? Now that's gonna take a while, and almost Mission Impossible, but I pormise to try my best, quite frankly, we need all the help we can get" Hermione admitted.
She was still looking straight ahead

Pansy sighed. She knew that it would take a lot of time before they believed her, but she was more than thankful the Hermione finally did. "When do you think can I talk to them?" she asked as she thought about it.
She then grinned at what Hermione said. "Thank you very much Hermione" she said truthfully and ame a move to hug her but stopped in mid action, blushing.

"Well, to tell you the truth, the quicker the better, but to tell you the truth, I sure as hell wouldn't want to be you. HArry's very much indeed.....more if you can believe it, protective of everyone then ever before" Hermione said, not really ehlping the situation.
Hermione looked at pansy when she made a move to hug her, instead Hermione finished the move, "Anytime" she added

Pansy grinned at her. "But you know? I'm more happy now, probably because a great weight has been lifted from my shoulders," she said as she smiled genuinely at Hermione. On the other hand, she still had to tell Harry and Ron, and wondered at how they would handle it.
When Hermione hugged her, she was shocked but hugged back and let go as she felt something sting her eyes, but stopped it as she again, refused to cry. "Uhm, I don't know if you'd agree, but would you want to hangout at The Three Broomsticks maybe this coming weekend, you can bring Ron and Harry if you want to, I'm the shop keeper there so it's my treat, but it's okay if you don't want to," she said all in one breath, as she thought of the situation.
